Ensure you are clean and showered before your appointment

Make sure you have eaten and drank something prior to your appointment

Ensure your skin is in good condition and not wounded or sunburnt as we will not be able to tattoo the area if so

Notify your artist in advance if you are on any blood thinning medication, or have any medical/skin conditions that may affect the tattooing process

If you plan on using numbing cream, let your artist know prior to your appointment and we can advise on application if needed

Your artist will have used a second skin or liquid bandage to cover your tattoo- keep this on for the amount of time specified by your artist. When it is ready to be removed, carefully peel the second skin off under lukewarm running water or in the shower. Liquid bandage can be washed off in the shower. Opt for loose, breathable clothing around the tattoo to minimise irritation.

Once your second skin or liquid bandage is removed, you can keep your tattoo clean by occasionally washing it with a gentle fragrance free soap and pat dry with a clean, dry paper towel.

After cleaning your tattoo, it is important to keep the area moisturised with a natural moisturiser. We recommend cocoa butter, shea butter or designated tattoo aftercare creams such as Hustle Butter.

It is crucial that you avoid activities such as swimming, sunbathing, using sunbeds or applying fake tan for at least 3 weeks. Your tattoo is an open wound, so it is important not to introduce any harmful bacteria to it by doing these activities.

Keep the piercing clean with sterile piercing cleaning solution such as ProntoLind or our supply of piercing aftercare spray.

You can clean the area by using a cotton bud and aftercare solution to gently remove any crust or discharge from the area.

Do not remove the jewellery, twist or play with the piercing as this can irritate the area and the piercing can become infected

Try to avoid sleeping on the piercing, we can recommend sleeping on a travel pillow or a designated ‘piercing pillow’ so that you can sleep comfortably whilst not putting pressure on the piercing

Come back to the studio to get your jewellery downsized after the amount of time stated by the piercer
